MIDDLESBROUGH manager Tony Mowbray has heaped praise on his players as they bid for a fourth straight win at home to Leeds United this weekend, writes RICHARD HUTCHINSON.

The Riverside chief has watched on in delight as his patched-up side have taken maximum points from their last three Championship outings to reclaim fourth spot.

And Mowbray has stressed the importance of winning games as opposed to drawing as Boro bid for a return to the Premier League.

“It’s very important to pick up wins,” said the 48-year-old.

“We went through a stage early in the season when we had some fabulous games against the likes of Leicester and Ipswich and only picked up a point.

“One win equals three of those great games at only a point, so we’ll take the three points.”
