TONY Mowbray is confident Middlesbrough can recover from their small blip in midweek when they host Ipswich Town tomorrow in the npower Championship (kick off 3pm).
Last weekend, Boro found themselves in top spot in the Championship after their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, before being dislodged just 24 hours later when Southampton defeated Birmingham.
Mowbray’s side returned to Selhurst Park again on Tuesday, this time in the Carling Cup, only for Palace to puncture their unbeaten run, 2-1.
“It would have been great for us to get into the last 16 of the draw,” said Mowbray.
“But it’s done now. If you were to ask me which of the two games we’d have preferred to have won, the league points were crucial for the long-term future of the club.
“Tomorrow won’t be easy, we know that.
“Ipswich are coming off the back of a terrific result against Coventry who showed they were no pushovers in our last game at the Riverside.
“We’re playing well and that brings about a certain confidence in the way that we play and it’s important to bounce back from the defeat and show our character – something we haven’t needed to do this season.”
Merouane Zemmama is fit again but could find himself on the bench.
