BRYN Morris experienced the pride and the suffered the heartbreak of what it’s like to be an England captain.
The Hartlepool teenager was picked to skipper England U17 against Italy in the opening match of the St George’s Park International U17 Tournament at Burton-on-Trent last night.
And Morris made a dream start as England swept into a 2-0 lead at the Pirelli Stadium, only for Italy to stage a stunning second-half comeback to win 3-2.
Morris led his country at U16 level last season and the Middlesbrough midfielder and defender was undefeated in the Three Lions jersey with five wins and two draws.
England U17 coach John Peacock handed the former High Tunstall College of Science pupil the armband yesterday and it looked as though Bryn would continue his golden touch with Queen and country.
Derby forward Mason Bennett put England ahead on 20 minutes before setting up Chelsea midfielder Charlie Colkett to double the lead. But back came the Italians with goals by Gennaro Tutino and captain Alberto Cerri (2).
