There were plenty of talking points as Boro were reduced to nine men after Marcus Browne and Paddy McNair received straight red cards against the Swans.

And while some supporters are still questioning Woodgate’s sticky start, many blamed his players for the result in South Wales.

Here’s how some fans reacted after the match:

@GabbaMFC: You have to feel sorry for Woodgate like, yes he’s not great but the amount of times he’s been let down by his squad is mental Can’t blame Woodgate for today’s loss

@bradwatson1997: 4 wins in 22 games! Woodgate has had more then enough time, he’s failed he’s massively out of his depth

@DaveMLY: McNair wasn’t a red for me like. Browne should be off the payroll never to return. Feel for Woodgate to be honest as could see us going on to get 1 or 3 points.

@Matt_Rowney: Woodgate is far from perfect. But hes learning on the job. In recent games hes made more positive decisions than negative ones, but has been let down by his players who are bang average and should be ashamed of themselves.

@Capetownsmoggy: Woodgate has no control over his players they play when it suits their mood. Sick notes red cards are a used at free will to suit this shambolic group of rent seeking tossers reflections of Woodgate in his "playing" years.

@ryanblackwood13: Today's result was down to two players indicipline and poor judgement calls. In all honesty will Browne be missed for 3 games I highly doubt it as hes been a passenger all season. McNair is a blow as woodgate has changed him from last year and has been one of best players

@dannyruse93: Wasn’t a big fan of the woodgate appointment. But you can tell he’s @Boro to the core. It’ll be hurting him just as much as the fans. The last few games there’s been so many signs of improvement. Can’t get on woodgate’s back for the reckless actions of Browne and McNair.

@smoggyontour86: Lost 9 games in league, 10 if you count the loss to Crewe and we’ve drawn 8 games and won 4. Awful form.

@Smogonthetees: When players commit absolute madness like today all it does is strength the manager’s position. I will say tho, discipline comes from above and it’s filtered down. Browne is a liability, McNair should of known better. Woodgate needs to address that

@bigreegs1985: Feel sorry for Woodgate. He's got a squad FULL of League One players. He's had ZERO financially from Gibbo (who was his choice of manager, NOT the fans). And then players get given a chance & throw it away (Browne).
