An Anfernee Dijksteel own goal put Coventry ahead in the Championship fixture before a Grant Hall header drew Boro level.
Substitute George Saville then scored the winner three minutes from time as Boro kept their slim promotion hopes alive.
Boro also came from behind to win the last time they visited St Andrew’s in December, when the Teessiders recorded a 4-1 win over Birmingham City.
It’s a good job Boro have the resolve to bounce back in matches as they’ve now conceded first in eight of their last 13 league games.
The Teessiders are five points off the play-off places with 12 games to go ahead of this weekend’s trip to Swansea.
