Boro, still battling against the drop in the Championship, have won their last three games in front of their home support at the Riverside.

And Lewis Wing, who scored the stunning winner against Stoke City last time out, is calling on Boro to build on the new-found confidence on home soil.

Boro, five points clear of the Championship drop zone, host Huddersfield on Boxing Day at the Riverside (KO 3pm) with Danny Cowley’s side a place and point above Boro in 19th.

Reflecting on the Stoke win, Wing said: “Everyone was buzzing.

“We knew we needed to pick up those three points, and obviously we did. We can look forward to Huddersfield on Boxing Day now.

“We’ve got to go on and get the fans behind us, like they were in that last half-an-hour and go again.

“Both teams were very compact, and they weren’t letting any of us in. Once they scored, it opened the game right up and luckily we got back into it.

“It was a massive win, and it gives us the confidence to go on and win another game on Thursday. I’ve just got to look forward at that now.

“The home form is always going to be important. We’ve won three in a row now, and hopefully that’s a platform we can build from. Getting another three points against Stoke was massive, and we’ve just got to keep building on that.

“I think we’ve played well for most of the season to be honest. There’s been a couple of bad games, but you expect that. Apart from, I think we’ve been playing well, we just haven’t quite been picking up the results we would have wanted.

“You’ve got to beat the teams that are down there with you. It was a great three points the other night, and all the lads were buzzing in the dressing room afterwards. Hopefully, we just carry it on and go on to Huddersfield.

“The home form is a good platform, and we’ve got another home game coming up quick so it’s another game we’ve got to win.”
