Hull City boss makes Britt Assombalonga claim ahead of Middlesbrough meeting
Hull City boss Grant McCann has singled out Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga as a potential threat ahead of Sunday’s meeting at the Riverside.
The Tigers are twelfth in the Championship ahead of the trip to Teesside, nine points better off than Boro who remain in the relegation zone.
Yet McCann, who took charge at the KCOM Stadium in the summer, is still expecting a tough game against Jonathan Woodgate’s side who haven’t won for nine games.
“Middlesbrough have Britt Assombalonga who I played with at Peterborough and he is one of the best strikers in the league,” said McCann.
“I expect to face a Middlesbrough team full of confidence. They are hard to beat at home, picked up some good results so it is a tough game. Everyone keeps telling me that Hull City’s record at Middlesbrough is terrible.”
Boro have won their last six league games against Hull at the Riverside.
