Joe Nicholson's Championship team of the season: Three Norwich, two Bournemouth, one Cardiff and three Brentford stars included

The regular Championship season has come to an end, and while it was a mixed campaign for Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough side, there were some impressive performances against the Teessiders.

Boro finished tenth in the table after 18 wins, 10 draws and 18 defeats, an improvement on last season but a little underwhelming given the season started strongly and faded.

No team did the double over Boro while the Teessiders didn’t beat anyone twice – a stat which sums up an inconsistent campaign.

Warnock’s side won by three-goal margins on four occasions as they recorded 3-0 victories over Stoke, Derby and Millwall, while winning 4-1 at Birmingham in December.

Boro were also beaten by three goals four times, losing 3-0 against Preston, Rotherham and Wycombe, while they were beaten 4-1 by Brentford.

Our Middlesbrough writer Joe Nicholson has picked his best starting XI of players who caught the eye in one off games against Boro, both at the Riverside and away from home.
