From promotion to the Premier League in 2016 to relegation the following season, as well as everything which happened before and after, our Boro writer Joe Nicholson has put together his strongest starting XI by selecting players who represented the club between 2010-2019. Scroll down and flick though our picture gallery to see if you agree with his selections:
1. GK: Darren Randolph
After winning Boro's player of the season award last year, the Republic of Ireland shot-stopper remains a key part of the club. He has rescued several points for the Teessiders in the last few seasons. Photo: Lewis Storey
2. RB: Emilio Nsue
Right-back has proved a tricky position to fill for Boro over the last decade. Nsue filled the void in the 2015/16 promotion-winning season and did an admirable job. Photo: Getty Images
3. CB: Daniel Ayala
After signing for the club in 2013, the towering centre-back has racked up over 200 appearances for Boro. Ayala's aerial presence in both boxes has been a major asset. Photo: Harry Murphy
4. CB: Ben Gibson
Teesside through and through, Gibson progressed through Boro's academy before captaining his hometown club. The Gibson-Ayala partnership was immense during the 2015/16 promotion campaign. Photo: Nigel Roddis
