Middlesbrough after £12m-rated Liverpool winger as Sheffield United sign former Boro target - round-up
According to reports, Middlesbrough are targeting highly-rated Liverpool winger Ryan Kent with manager Jonathan Woodgate looking to add quality ahead of the new season.
The £12m-rated Kent spent last season on loan at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League, where he impressed by notching six goals alongside nine assists in all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Sheffield United have been linked with a move for Boro’s Irish midfielder Paddy McNair after Celtic cooled their interest in the former Sunderland man.
The Blades have wrapped up the signing of former Middlesbrough target Luke Freeman from QPR and reports claim the Premier League have signed Freeman for as little as £3m, a "bargain" says Chris Wilder.
Wilder also said of his new signing: “He is enthusiastic, dynamic and talented. His statistics are right up there. We look at the statistics, the key ones we look at for players, and then also reports and my own eyes.
"Also, we look at when we have played against him. He can create and he can score. I am sure he can play a part in this group.”
Middlesbrough’s away trip to Bristol City’s ground Ashton Gate has been brought forward for TV coverage.
The match, due to take place on Saturday August 31, will now kick-off at 12.30pm and will be shown live on television via Sky Sports.
The fixture marks Boro’s second confirmed TV appearance so far - the other being against newly promoted Luton Town on the opening day of the season on Friday August 2.
