Middlesbrough appoint former England man in recruitment role

Middlesbrough have announced the appointment of Adrian Bevington as their new Head of Recruitment Operations.

Bevington fills the role vacated by Victor Orta, who left the club in May 2017 following the dismissal of Aitor Karanka.

Born in Middlesbrough, Bevington has previously worked at his hometown club before teaming up with the Football Association in 1997.

He was appointed as the FA's Director of Communications and worked alongside several high-profile England managers before later becoming Managing Director of Club Wembley.

The 47-year-old left the governing body in 2015 and has since taken on consultancy work at several clubs, while he was also linked with taking over as the Chief Executive of the Scottish FA earlier this year.

But he now he returns to the Riverside Stadium where he will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the club's recruitment department.
