Middlesbrough FC news: Jonathan Woodgate reveals message to Marvin Johnson plus Leeds ticket update
Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate says Marvin Johnson’s red card against Hull has been forgotten about ahead of tonight’s crucial Championship meeting with Barnsley.
Johnson was dismissed in the 37th minute against the Tigers following a reckless tackle which left his side on the back foot.
Woodgate was critical of the winger immediately after the game but is keen to move on from the incident.
“I got him in my office and said it’s finished now it’s over,” said the Boro boss.
“We move on. I’m not the type of manager who holds grudges, Marvin has been very good for me considering where he was last season, he was out on loan, maybe at a point he didn’t have a future at Middlesbrough.
“I’ve given him a chance and he’s repaid me. He’s done really well up to that incident.”
Leeds ticket update
It’s a quick turnaround for Boro after tonight’s game, with the Teessiders set to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Boro received 2,659 away tickets for the fixture and had sold 1,700 by Tuesday evening.
Tickets for Boro’s trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, December 10 have also gone on sale to supporters with 70 priority points or more.
Boro back in the bottom three
Following Tuesday’s Championship results, Boro slipped back into the relegation zone following Luton’s 2-1 win over Charlton.
Only a win against bottom of the table Barnsley would see Woodgate’s side climb out of the drop zone tonight.
