Boro linked with free agent midfielder

While signing more strikers is the priority for Neil Warnock, the Boro boss is assessing every position ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Teessiders will be looking to be shrewd in the transfer market, with lots of players set to become free agents this summer.

One player who is nearing the end of his contract is Luton midfielder Pelly Ruddock.

According to Football Insider, Boro are lining up a move for the 27-year-old who made 44 Championship appearances during the 2020/21 season.

The report also claims Luton are still in talks about trying to keep hold of the player.

Premier League clubs tracking Dael Fry

Warnock is confident he can keep Boro’s best players this summer, particularly academy graduates Dael Fry and Marcus Tavernier.

Multiple Premier League clubs have previously been credited with interest in Fry, 23, who has been repeatedly praised by Warnock.

According to Football League World, Fry is a target for newly-promoted Brentford while top-flight clubs Leeds, Burnley, Wolves and Southampton have all scouted the defender.

Players return to training

Finally, some of Boro’s players have returned to training at Rockliffe.

The first group back included Jonny Howson, Hayden Coulson, Lewis Wing, Chuba Akpom, Djed Spence and Tavernier, who missed the end of last season due to injury.

Boro’s full pre-season return is scheduled for July 1.
