Middlesbrough transfer news: Neil Warnock's message to Burnley after Dael Fry report

Neil Warnock is confident defender Dael Fry will stay at Middlesbrough next season – despite reports linking the centre-back with Burnley.

According to the Daily Mail, the Clarets are planning to make a £10-million move for the 23-year-old who they tried to sign two seasons ago.

Fry has been excellent for Boro this campaign, making 32 Championship appearances, while Warnock has claimed he’s the best centre-back in the division.

The Mail’s report says Burnley expect further interest in James Tarkowski and are ready to sell former Boro defender Ben Gibson to Norwich following a loan spell at Carrow Road.

But when asked if he is anticipating losing Fry this summer, Warnock replied: “No not at all. I saw the figures mentioned, that wouldn’t buy his left lace, never mind his body.”

Boro are preparing for a trip to play-off rivals Bournemouth on Friday, with the Teessiders sitting six points outside the play-off places with eight games remaining.
