MIDDLESBROUGH winger Muzzy Carayol is set to return to the Boro squad for Tuesday night’s game against Bolton Wanderers after almost a year out injured.
Carayol suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury towards the end of last season but he is set to be named on the bench for the visit of Bolton after 11 months out (KO 7.45).
Boro’s head coach, Aitor Karanka has welcomed the winger’s return to the first team picture.
Karanka said: “I think he could have his opportunity on Tuesday.
“He will be on the bench.
“He has been playing in the Under-21s, his games are getting better and now this is the next step.
“It’s great news for everyone when you get a player back from a long-term injury,” added Karanka, who was talking the the club’s website.
Meanwhile, former Hartlepool United goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos could also return to the starting line-up after serving a suspension in the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United.
But Jelle Vossen is ruled out of the Bolton game after he was stretchered from the pitch on Saturday following a clash of heads.
“He’ll be out for a few days,” confirmed Karanka.
“It’s too early to say if he will be available for Sheffield Wednesday.
“He needs to spend some time at home and relax for a few days.”
Promotion chasing Middlesbrough are second in the Championship, while Bolton are 18th in the league table.
