The first month of the year can be a difficult time for clubs to improve their squads, yet the Teessiders have completed some good business in recent times. We’ve taken a look at the last four January transfer windows to rank Boro’s recent signings. Scroll down and flick through our picture gallery to see them:
1. John Obi Mikel (2019) - 7/10
Mikel's quality was clear to see as the former Champions League winner became a regular in Tony Pulis' side. He wasn't able to help Boro reach the play-offs though and left at the end of the season. 7/10 Photo: George Wood
2. Rajiv Van La Parra (2019) - 2/10
Injuries made it difficult for the Dutch winger to break into Boro's first team after signing for the club on loan. He left the Riverside with just five appearances to his name. 2/10 Photo: Stu Forster
3. Martin Cranie (2018) - 5/10
The versatile defender made 11 Championship appearances after signing for Boro on a short-term deal and helped provide cover at the back. 5/10 Photo: Getty Images
4. Jack Harrison (2018) - 3/10
A player who is now flourishing in the Championship at Leeds. It didn't work out for Harrison at the Riverside, though, and the winger made just four appearances during a loan spell on Teesside. 3/10 Photo: Getty Images
