Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has claimed his side are unlikely to make the top six, but with just six points separating them from the play-off places, a few wins against their rivals could see them in the mix. Here's how the latest data algorithm (via FiveThirtyEight) has predicted the final Championship table will look at the end of the season:
9. 16th: Nottingham Forest
Points total: 53. After a truly disastrous start to the season, Forest managed to sort themselves out and haul themselves well clear of the relegation zone. Chris Hughton has a serious challenge on his hands to turn them into play-off contenders next season. Photo: Julian Finney
10. 15th: Bristol City
Points total: 57. The Robins' brief resurgence under new boss Nigel Pearson didn't last long, and the honeymoon period looks to be over already. Still, they'll do better next season following a summer rebuild, one would imagine. Photo: Alex Burstow
11. 14th: Blackburn Rovers
Points total: 58. Rovers are fancied to pick up a further 12 points from their remaining eight matches. They've had some real injury problems this season, being with star men Bradley Dack and Lewis Holtby for extended periods of time. Photo: Lewis Storey
12. 13th: Luton Town
Points total: 61. It's a solid mid-table finish for the Hatters, who have continued to progress this season after their dramatic battle to avoid relegation last season. Photo: Alex Livesey
