The Teessiders will be without long-term absentees Dael Fry, Marcus Tavernier, Anfernee Dijksteel, Sam Morsy and Marcus Browne for the match.
Winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been sidelined with a thigh issue, while Grant Hall and Darnell Fisher are also doubts for the match.
Boro only named five outfield substitutes during their 2-1 win over Rotherham last time out, none of whom had any previous experience in the Championship.
That did allow midfielder Connor Malley to come on and make his senior debut, though, and the 21-year-old may be handed his first senior start against Wednesday.
Warnock has also said he wants to give young goalkeeper Sol Brynn a game before the end of the campaign.
Here’s the Boro side we think could start this weekend.
1. GK: Aynsley Pears
Was recalled to the side at Reading and kept his place against Cardiff. Vocal between the sticks and can be heard in an empty stadium barking out instructions to his team-mates. Photo: COPYRIGHT (C) FRANK REID 20187
2. RB: Anfernee Dijksteel
Performed well at Reading and was having a decent game against Cardiff before a costly error led to the visitors' second goal. Photo: Clive Brunskill
3. CB: Dael Fry
It's been a tough few weeks for the 22-year-old centre-back but that doesn't mean he should be written off. Fry has shown what he can do with some impressive performances at Millwall and Reading but needs to find more consistency. Photo: FRANK REID 2020
4. CB: George Friend
May be approaching the end of his Boro career with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. Has looked far more comfortable at centre-back since Warnock took charge. Photo: Getty Images
