The Boro boss has said he wants to sign around ‘eight or nine’ players ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, following several first-team departures from the Riverside.
Striker duo Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher have both departed while it’s also been confirmed that goalkeeper Jordan Archer, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Marvin Johnson won’t be offered new deals and are set to become free agents.
Boro will be assessing all their options, including players available on free transfers as well as potential loan deals.
Several players are set to be released when their contracts expire at the end of June and will already be looking for new clubs.
