The transfer window in England will close at 11pm on October 5, yet an extra domestic window will run until 5pm on October 16.

Here are some of the latest transfers stories concerning Boro and their league rivals – with in and outgoings still expected at the Riverside in the next few weeks.

Blackburn considering their options

One player whose future remains unclear is Boro goalkeeper Aynsley Pears.

The 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Riverside following the arrival of Marcus Bettinelli, while reports have claimed Blackburn made a bid of 200k for the stopper.

Rovers have made two signings this summer in the shape of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, who has started the club’s first two league games, and former Boro defender Daniel Ayala.

Yet manager Tony Mowbray says there isn’t much room left in the budget for more arrivals.

“We haven't got any money to buy anybody,” said Mowbray following Blackburn’s 5-0 win over Wycombe at the weekend.

"So I would say there is enough money to buy one player who can help us to get to where we want to be, or we could loan two or three players and use that money as salary, which just becomes dead money at your club at the end of the year.

"Our decision is ultimately whether to loan some players who are going to help us in a one-off season or are we going to buy one player who can be ours?

"But then we've got more than one position that we feel we need to strengthen or cover, it's a difficult conundrum for us, somewhere along the line we'll see what falls in place."

Forest complete midfielder deal

Elsewhere in the Championship, Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Harry Arter from Bournemouth on a three-year deal.

The 30-year-old will provide competition for places at the City Ground, where Forest already have Jack Colback, Ryan Yates, Fouad Bachirou, Tiago Silva, Brennan Johnson and Samba Sow who can operate in the middle of the park.

Yates, 22, made 27 Championship appearances for Sabri Lamouchi’s side last season, yet one national newspaper has recently claimed Boro and Millwall are considering a £1.5 million bid for the midfield.

It seems Yates is still in the manager’s plans at Forest, though, after starting the club’s first two league games alongside Colback in midfield.

Finally, teenage striker Calum Kavanagh has signed his first professional contract with Boro.

The 17-year-old joined the club as a scholar during the summer but has been linked with several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Celtic, this year.

Kavanagh has penned a three-year deal at Boro and scored a brace for the club’s under-18 side in a 3-0 win at Leeds on the opening day of the new campaign.

Boro’s academy manager Craig Liddle said: “We’re delighted Calum has signed a professional contract.

“He’s shown great application and has a real good work ethic. He has a long way to go and a lot to learn, but this is another step on the ladder for him and his continued development.”
