Boro have added full-back Darnell Fisher and winger Yannick Bolasie to their squad this week but are still looking to bolster their attacking options.

"It would be nice to get one more attacker if I can,” said Warnock ahead of this weekend’s game at Norwich. “We were looking at midfield, but I’d rather forsake getting another midfield player in if it means I can get another attacker.

“Whether we can get something over the line, I don’t know. But there are one or two lads that have been mentioned. I’m glad we’ve got Yannick, now I can concentrate on the other things.”

Warnock has previously said Boro plan to send a handful of younger players out on loan and have allowed winger Isaiah Jones to temporarily join Scorish side Queen of the South.

The Teessiders may also allow some of their senior players to leave before the deadline, depending on who they can bring in.

“I think the odd one needs to go out, if I’m honest,” replied Warnock when asked about potential departures.

“I’ll have to look at that once I know what we’ve got in. Definitely, there are one or two names that spring to mind that I probably would let go if I’ve got enough cover.”

It is, though, looking increasingly likely that Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts will stay at Boro, despite his lack of game time this season.

“We’ve not heard anything,” said Warnock when asked about Roberts, who started against Rotherham earlier this week

“Patrick knows the situation and he’s spoken to Man City and his agent. We’ll have to see if anything develops, but if not, we have him contracted until the end of the season.

“He’ll have to buckle down and try and get into my plans. I’ll try and accommodate him when I can if he stays.

“It’s one of those. I thought we could get away with it against Rotherham in that area.

“We’ll play a lot of different systems between now and the end of the season, so once he knows if he’s going or not, I’m sure he will knuckle down.”
