FABRICIO Coloccini’s adamant the injury he suffered against Cardiff City won’t stop him making his international comeback.
Newcastle United’s captain was substituted as a precaution in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat.
Coloccini felt his calf early in the game, but played on until the break.
However, the 30-year-old, recalled to Argentina squad after a long absence by coach Alejandro Sabella, is desperate to play in Frankfurt on Wednesday night.
“Yes, I’ll go – it’s OK,” Coloccini told the Gazette. “It just felt tight – it was nothing.”
United manager Alan Pardew will be keeping everything crossed that Coloccini returns unscathed ahead of Saturday’s season-opener against Spurs.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Shane Ferguson made his comeback from injury in a reserve friendly at Blackpool on Saturday.
