FABRICIO Coloccini is a massive doubt for Newcastle United’s game against Liverpool on Saturday after pulling out of the Argentina squad through injury.
The Magpies’ skipper was set to start for his country against Uruguay tomorrow night.
But a statement on the Argentine FA website tonight said: “The coaching staff today released Fabricio Coloccini because of a muscle injury.”
The defender will now head back to Tyneside for treatment, with only a few days before the Liverpool game which is a lunchtime kick-off.
Coloccini was an unused substitute against Peru on Friday, but with Argentina having already qualified for the World Cup Finals, he was expected to start in their last qualifier tomorrow.
