FULHAM’S bid to sign a new striker could aid Newcastle United’s chances of landing Darren Bent.

The Daily Star this morning reports that Fulham are trying to sign Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo, 27, in an £8.6m deal.

The Cottagers had been linked with a move for Aston Villa frontman Bent, but there were claims yesterday that they had cooled their interest.

And a move for Osvaldo would instead leave the door open for Newcastle to sign Bent instead.

Elsewhere, Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Valencia will not let defender Adil Rami, 27, leave for anything less than £7.75m.

The Frenchman is wanted by both Manchester City and Arsenal.
