HARIS Vuckic’s set to make his long-awaited return from injury at Fir Park.

The Newcastle United forward is expected to feature against Motherwell tonight (7pm kick-off).

Vuckic has recovered from the cruciate ligament injury he suffered in a reserve fixture against Aston Villa last October.

And the talented 20-year-old - whose first-team career has been beset by a series of injuries - is fit and available for selection in the club’s first pre-season friendly.

Before succumbing to injury, Vuckic scored the decisive goal in United’s Europa League qualifier against Atromitos.

And the Slovenia international - who had a loan spell at Cardiff City the season before last, and is contracted at Newcastle until 2016 - is keen to make up for lost time at Newcastle, starting at Fir Park.

The likes of Yoan Gouffran, Vurnon Anita, Moussa Sissoko and Rob Elliot are also expected to feature, though there could also be opportunities for some of United’s younger players, including Sammy Ameobi and Paul Dummett.

Winger Shane Ferguson - who is expected to rejoin Lee Clark’s Birmingham City on loan this season - could also be involved.

However, forward Hatem Ben Arfa isn’t expected to face Motherwell, managed by Stuart McCall.

Ben Arfa could instead feature in Newcastle’s two tour games in Portugal.

The 26-year-old - who was plagued by a hamstring problem last season - is working hard on his fitness.

Meanwhile, Motherwell are hoping to sign former Sunderland striker James McFadden in time for him to play in the game.

The 30-year-old free agent - who joined the club on a short-term deal last season - trained with McCall’s squad in Spain last week.
