HATEM Ben Arfa is NOT set for a big-money move to a Qatari club, according to his agent.
The forward is expected to leave Newcastle United this summer after falling out of favour in the latter weeks of last season.
And it had been reported that the 27-year-old was set for a move to the Middle East.
But Michael Ouazine, his representative, has dismissed speculation linking him with a switch to Lekhwiya.
“This is false,” Ouazine told L’Equipe. “He has one year left on his Newcastle contract and intends to continue to play in Europe.”
United manager Alan Pardew left Ben Arfa out of his squads for the final few games of the season.
And he is one of the players the club, which is also looking to move on Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux, has made available for transfer this summer.
In a video posted on social media site Instagram last month, Ben Arfa said he was looking forward to a “big season”. He could yet opt to stay at Newcastle.
