SYLVAIN Marveaux’s facing up to three weeks on the sidelines.
The midfielder had been pencilled in to start against Aston Villa last night.
But Marveaux suffered a foot injury the day before the game, which was won 2-1 thanks to goals from Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Demba Cisse.
And he will miss Saturday’s home game against Chelsea, and the visit to Tottenham Hotspur on February 9.
Pardew says he felt for Marveaux, who has found form in recent months.
“He was meant to play, if I’m honest,” Pardew told the Gazette. “But he got injured. It’s a real blow for him, and it looks like two or three weeks, which is a real shame.
“He would have enjoyed that. I feel for Sylvain, a little bit. He’s hurt the bone that runs across his foot.”
