Liverpool in advanced talks for duo as Newcastle target Bent has £8m price tag slapped on his head

DARREN Bent – tipped as a target for Newcastle United – has had an £8m price tag slapped on his head.

The Aston Villa striker has been told he can leave the club this summer, but only if they get a sizeable fee.Bent cost an initial £18m when he signed from Sunderland.

In other transfer stories, Liverpool have been linked with a double signing.

The Guardian reports that Liverpool are in advanced negotiations to sign Porto’s Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu, 21.

The Reds also expect to complete the £6m transfer of Sevilla attacking midfielder Luis Alberto, 20, by Thursday, according to the Independent.
