NEWCASTLE United midfielder Jack Colback has been left out of the England squad for the upcoming European Championship qualfiers against San Marino and Estonia.
The former Sunderland player was handed his maiden call-up for last month’s games against Norway and Switzerland, but had to pull out of the squad with a calf injury.
The 24-year-old has now been overlooked for Roy Hodgson’s latest squad, with Swansea City’s Jonjo Shelvey selected instead.
Last week, Colback said he saw international recognition as a “massive bonus”, and insisted his main focus was on Newcastle.
He said: “First and foremost, I’m just looking at playing for Newcastle, doing well for Newcastle and making sure we start winning games and moving up the table.
“Then if England comes with that, then it’s just a massive bonus.”
