JONAS Gutierrez has been backed to add more goals to his game after scoring his best strike yet for Newcastle United.
Gutierrez netted a stunning goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The winger evaded four challenges at Molineux before beating Wayne Hennessey at Molineux with his weaker left foot.
Goalscoring isn’t a strength of Gutierrez’s, but manager Alan Pardew’s confident the 28-year-old – who agreed a contract extension at St James’s Park last week – can threaten the opposition goalkeeper more often.
“Hopefully, there’s many more goals to come from Jonas over the course of his new contract,” Pardew told SportMail.
“It was a great start for him under that new deal, and it was a really super goal.
“He had to dig in – he won headers in the box. He does all the stuff a lot of wide players don’t do.”
