DANNY Guthrie is facing at least a month on the sidelines in another injury blow for Newcastle United.
The midfielder – who has been playing in the absence through injury of Cheik Tiote – has a groin problem, and could be out for as many as six weeks.
And Guthrie and Tiote’s continued absence have given manager Alan Pardew a headache in central midfield for Saturday’s visit to Norwich City.
“Danny’s injury looks like being out for four to six weeks,” said Pardew.
“We won’t have Cheik this weekend, either. We’re up against it.”
Meanwhile, Pardew celebrates his one-year anniversary in charge at St James’s Park tomorrow.
“It’s been an enjoyable experience,” he said. “We’ve made progress, and I’m really happy with my team. I’ve got a great set of players, who are fighting every week to get results.”
