NILE Ranger’s goal at Stamford Bridge was seemingly an early-season statement of intent from the striker.
Yet the 20-year-old goes into the penultimate game of Newcastle United’s campaign against Chelsea looking to add to that Carling Cup strike, having drawn a blank in front of goal since then.
However, Ranger will most likely have to settle for a substitute’s role, with Shola Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands having been manager Alan Pardew’s preferred strike-force in recent weeks.
Ranger has promised much in his fleeting appearances for Newcastle this season and last, his pace and build a handful for any defender.
