Steve McClaren will give Moussa Sissoko every chance of playing against Arsenal tomorrow lunchtime.
The French midfield powerhouse – who has been previously been linked with a move to Arsenal – has missed the last two games with a groin strain, which saw him go off at half-time against Swansea City.
But he could make his return at St James’s Park tomorrow for the lunchtime kick-off (KO 12.45pm), having trained this week.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, McClaren said: “We thought he would have no chance to be honest.
“He has healed well, is he ready?
“We’ll decide that tomorrow.
“He has trained a couple of days with the team, we will just have to weigh up the fitness side of it.
“Everyone else is okay.”
Papiss Cisse missed the Northampton Town win through illness but he trained with the squad today and is in the squad for the visit of the Gunners.
McClaren has no other injury concerns.
