DEMBA Ba is set for talks with Chelsea over a money-spinning move to Stamford Bridge.
The European champions are ready to activate the £7.5million release clause in the Newcastle United striker’s contract.
And it is looking increasingly likely that Ba – who could double his Newcastle wages at Chelsea – will leave St James’s Park when the transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.
Ba – whose representatives are understood to be ready to start negotiations with the Blues – is United’s leading scorer on 13 Premier League goals.
However, efforts to persuade the 27-year-old to sign a new deal at the club having come to nothing because of his wage demands.
Newcastle are among the clubs looking to sign Olympique Marseille striker Loic Remy.
And a deal for the 25-year-old could be pushed through should Ba, signed on a free transfer from West Ham United last year, leave over the next few days.
