ALAN Pardew’s hopeful captain Fabricio Coloccini will stay at Newcastle United.
The defender asked to leave St James’s Park in January.
But the 31-year-old – who is wanted by Argentinian club San Lorenzo – agreed to stay on pending further talks in the summer.
And Pardew has asked Newcastle’s fans to show their appreciation for Coloccini during Sunday’s home game against Arsenal.
“My hope is that he stays,” said Pardew, whose side secured their Premier League status last weekend.
“We want him to stay, and I hope the fans give him that message. Sunday is an opportunity to do that.
“We’ve really missed him (during his absence through injury),
“We got over the line, and a big part of that was down to Coloccini.”
Coloccini this week hosted a party for his United team-mates at his house.
And the event trended on social networking site Twitter after Sammy Ameobi posted pictures on the internet.
Pardew said: “I think he imported some good Argentinian steak over.
“The guys had a thoroughly good time, I’m told.”
