EMMANUEL Riviere has completed his move from Monaco to Newcastle United on a long-term deal

The French striker has joined United for around £6m, and is the club’s latest capture in a busy week.

He said: “I’m very happy to be here at Newcastle.

“When the club spoke to me I said yes immediately. It was an easy decision because Newcastle is a big club with great fans and a good stadium.

“My dream was always to play in the Premier League and Newcastle have given me the opportunity to realise that.”

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said: “This is an important signing because the striking area is one we really had to improve.

“We have looked at Emmanuel for a while and we know he will score goals for us.

“He is quick, hungry for success and will love having 50,000 Geordies cheering him on and singing his name.

“I am really looking forward to integrating Emmanuel in the group and cannot wait to see him in action for us.”

Riviere started his career at Saint-Etienne, and also had a spell as a team-mate of Moussa Sissoko at Toulouse before joining Monaco in 2013.

He has been capped at every level from Under-16s to Under-21s for France, and scored 13 times for Monaco last season.

Riviere is Newcastle’s second confirmed signing so far this week – after fellow Frenchman Remy Cabella joined from Montpellier on Sunday – and the fifth in total this summer.

Meanwhile, right-back Daryl Janmaat’s switch from Feyenoord is expected to be confirmed by United in the next 24 hours.
