ROMAIN Amalfitano has returned to his native France – just days after his brother arrived in England.

The midfielder has joined French club Dijon FCO on loan.

Amalfitano has made four first-team appearances for Newcastle, all in the Europa League, since joining the club last summer from Reims

The 24-year-old’s last appearance came against Maritimo last November.

Nice-born Amalfitano limped out of Newcastle’s 5-4 Under-21 defeat to West Ham United at Whitley Park on Monday.

After joining United, he said: “When a club like Newcastle wants you to play for them, it can only be a good thing.

“I have taken the opportunity to play in the Premier League and cannot wait to get going.”

Meanwhile, Amalfitano’s elder brother Morgan joined West Bromwich Albion on loan from Olympique Marseille on Sunday.

The 28-year-old will spend the entire season at The Hawthorns. The loan is with a view to a permanent move.

Amalfitano Snr has one senior cap for France.
