PAPISS Demba Cisse is relishing forging a lethal partnership up front for Newcastle United with Senegalese countryman Demba Ba.
Cisse has been handed the coveted No.9 jersey after joining the club from German club Freiburg in a £9m deal.
The 26-year-old was given permission to leave Senegal’s pre-African Cup of Nations training camp to sign for Newcastle, and he yesterday completed the formalties of the deal on Tyneside.
Cisse has scored 37 goals in 65 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
And he can’t wait to pull on a black and white shirt alongside Ba, United’s leading scorer, when the pair return from the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
“It’s going to be a great honour to play with him - he’s a simply fantastic player,” said Cisse.
“I think we are going to make a formidable partnership.
“This is a partnership that we hope will get the fans excited, and I’m certainly looking forward to it starting.”
