NEXT month’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James’s Park has been switched to a Sunday due to Newcastle United’s European commitments, it was confirmed today.
The eagerly-awaited showdown with Sunderland was due to take place at 12.45pm on Saturday, April 13.
But with Newcastle now facing Benfica at St James’s Park in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday, April 11, it has been moved back 24 hours.
The game will now take place on Sunday, April 14, with a noon kick-off. It will still be screened live on Sky Sports.
