NEWCASTLE United will NOT be heading across the Atlantic to Texas in pre-season, according to Swansea City.
The relegation-threatened club has been involved in talks with the organisers of a six-team summer tournament in the United States.
Head coach John Carver said it was one of the “options” Newcastle were considering for pre-season.
However, Swansea City today confirmed their participation in the July competition – and revealed the five other sides also due to take part.
But the name of United was not among them.
Chivas Guadalajara, Olympique Lyonnais, Raja Casablanca, Pachuca and Malaga are the other participants in the Dallas-based tournament.
Newcastle are yet to reveal any of the club’s pre-season fixtures.
Asked about the club’s pre-season plans earlier this month, Carver said: “Listen, it (Dallas) is one of the options.
“There are a number of options, nothing’s been confirmed.
“There’s all sorts going on. I’ve been involved in the process, it’s one of the options but nothing’s been nailed down.
“We’ve got, obviously, other games but nothing’s been confirmed yet.”
