SAMMY Ameobi is gunning for Capital One Cup holders Manchester City – after sparking a remarkable Premier League comeback against Tottenham Hotspur.
Half-time substitute Ameobi scored just six seconds after the restart to level matters with Ayoze Perez heading the winner.
Ameobi and his buoyant team-mates are now focused on Wednesday night’s visit to the City of Manchester Stadium for a fourth-round tie against Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
“We are going to take confidence from this,” said Ameobi.
“Hopefully, we can take that to Manchester City and anything is possible if we go out with the right attitude. We’re looking forward to it.”
United looked to be heading for another away defeat at the break at White Hart Lane, where Tottenham had been dominant.
“It was always going to be a tough game coming to White Hart Lane to play a Tottenham team that has been playing well,” said 22-year-old Ameobi.
“We’ve had to fight through. It was a tough first half and the manager just said we had to give it our all, and we did that and we are really happy with the result.”
On Perez, Ameobi added: “Ayoze has been brilliant since he joined.
“It was tough for him in the first half up front on his own against two big centre-halves, but he pushed through and got his goal and we are really happy for him.”
