Peter Loves Newcastle strikers

PETER Lovenkrands has hit back at claims Newcastle United don’t have the firepower to prosper in the Premier League.

The club’s failed bid to sign a Andy Carroll’s replacement in the summer transfer window has led fans to questions whether there are enough goals in Alan Pardew’s team.

But Lovenkrands is adamant there’s quantity and quality in the striking options available to Pardew.

Lovenkrands hopes to return to the starting XI against Aston Villa at Villa Park tomorrow after being an unused substitute in Monday night’s goalless draw at Queens Park Rangers.

While Newcastle hardly created a chance at Loftus Road, Lovenkrands feels the club has the strikers to trouble the opposition.

As well as Lovenkrands, Pardew has Shola Ameobi, Demba Ba, Leon Best, Sammy Ameobi and the out of favour Nile Ranger.

“People are focusing on this new striker, but we’ve already got five or six strikers here,” Lovenkrands said. “We know we can score goals.”
