REMY Cabella can’t wait for his second taste of Premier League football when Newcastle United visit Aston Villa.
Cabella feels Alan Pardew’s side can take positives from their performance against Man City at the weekend ahead of Saturday’s visit to Villa Park.
“We played the best team in the league,” said Cabella. “We knew what to expect and I don’t think we embarrassed ourselves.
“We put in a good performance, and we just have to try to get a win in the next game against Villa.”
Cabella – who was closely marked by City midfielder’s Fernando and Yaya Toure – feels he will be stronger for his first experience of Premier League football.
“I know what to expect now, having played against the best team,” said Cabella.
“I know what to do.
“I’ve got to get out there and make sure I work harder and keep performing better each week.”
The Frenchman said he was blown away by the atmosphere at St James’s Park on his United debut. The 24-year-old showed glimpses of his talent in the 2-0 defeat.
Cabella, signed from Montpellier for £7million this summer, left the field disappointed with the scoreline, which flattered the champions.
But the experience of playing at the stadium left an indelible impression on the France international, who made a point of thanking United’s supporters.
Asked about his debut, Cabella told SportMail: “The atmosphere was exceptional.
“You think about it and you play it out in your head, but you never really know until you set foot on the pitch.
“That’s when you feel the atmosphere and I just want to say a massive thank you to the supporters, who were absolutely brilliant.
“I’m a little bit disappointed with the result – it would have been great to come away with a victory – but we can take some positives away from the performance.
“We’ll move on from here. Hopefully, they can continue to be like that until the end of the season, as we really will need their support.
“Hopefully, we can repay them with a few victories as well.”
