REMIE Streete made his comeback from injury for Newcastle United’s reserves in a behind-closed-doors game against Gateshead.
The defender, from South Shields, has been sidelined for five weeks with a hamstring problem.
And Streete – whose last appearance was in the Under-21s’s Wear-Tyne derby defeat to Sundelrand early last month – returned in a 2-2 draw against Gary Mills’s Conference side at the club’s training ground.
United midfielder Gael Bigirimana also continued his comeback from an ankle problem by playing 90 minutes.
Callum Roberts and Tom Heardman were on target for Newcastle’s Under-21s, who face Whitley Bay at Hillheads in the semi-finals of the Northumberland Senior Cup on Monday night (7.30pm kick-off).
