SYLVAIN Marveaux netted two goals for Newcastle United’s reserves - then admitted he still faces a fight to break into the first team.
A strong second string side brushed aside Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at Leyland last night.
Sammy Ameobi also got on the scoresheet as the club’s reserves went top of the Premier Reserve League.
Pacy Marveaux’s performance on both flanks will have caught the eye of Alan Pardew, who was at the County Ground for the game.
The 25-year-old was glad of the opportunity to impress Pardew, who has the dilemma of whether to change a winning team for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur to St James’s Park a week on Saturday.
“It was a great feeling to get two goals,” said Marveaux.
“At the moment, it isn’t easy to get into the team because they are unbeaten. We’re all working hard and trying to show the manager what we can do.
“I’m ready, and I’ll wait for my chance.”
