Story of the day: Hartlepool United 3-1 Chesterfield – Pools start bank holiday weekend with a bang to go 16 unbeaten
Hartlepool United made it 16 games unbeaten in the National League with a 3-1 victory over Chesterfield at Victoria Park.
Goals from Rhys Oates, a Josef Yarney own goal and another from Luke Armstrong in the first half were enough to seal the three points for Pools despite former defender Fraser Kerr pulling a goal back for Chesterfield in the second half.
The win keeps Pools third in the table going into the bank holiday Monday match at Bromley (3pm kick-off).

78: Mandeville shoots wide
Pools fail to clear the ball as Mandeville shoots wide of the right post from the edge of the box.
76: Chesterfield corner
72: Oates over runs the ball!
Oates does brilliantly to bear down on goal with Armstrong alongside him. The Pools forward continues his run instead of passing to Armstrong and the chance goes begging. Oates stretches to try and get a shot away and takes out Maguire as a result.
70: Mandeville beats Liddle and his long range effort is gathered by Ravas
Pools need to stay alert here.
62: Fraser Kerr heads the ball in from a corner to pull one back for Chesterfield
The defender never scored for Pools but has a goal for Chesterfield to give them some hope in the game.
GOAL! Chesterfield pull a goal back
62: Chesterfield win a corner, good defending from Liddle
56: Ferguson somehow sets himself up but just overruns it!
The Pools defender seemingly misplaces a pass but no Chesterfield player reads it as he’s able to collect his own ball forward and work his way into the box. Just as he’s about to get a shot away he stumbles and Chesterfield are able to clear.
