Goals from Rhys Oates, a Josef Yarney own goal and another from Luke Armstrong in the first half were enough to seal the three points for Pools despite former defender Fraser Kerr pulling a goal back for Chesterfield in the second half.

The win keeps Pools third in the table going into the bank holiday Monday match at Bromley (3pm kick-off).

Lewis Cass injury upate

A slight tendinopathy knee injury for Lewis Cass, will likely miss Monday’s game but will be fine for next weekend.

Hartlepool manager Dave Challinor gives his thoughts on the game

“I’m delighted to win. Job done from our perspective with the results that happened earlier,” Dave Challinor said.

“Our intensity was great in the first half as it has been for the majority of the season.

“They threw caution to the wind slightly in the second half and change their shape so it was about defending for us in the second half slightly to protect the lead.”

Another impressive win for Pools following an excellent first half performance that saw them 3-0 up at the break.

That proved to be enough despite Chesterfield trying to get back into the game in the second half.

16 games unbeaten now, 12 wins from 13 at Victoria Park and still in the title race with five games to go.

Bring on Bromley!
