LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has eased fears that Sunderland target Fabio Borini has suffered serious injury.

Borini lasted only 11 minutes of Liverpool’s friendly against Roma in Boston last night after he fell awkwardly during the early stages and sustained a shoulder problem.

There were fears that it could scupper Sunderland’s hopes of signing Borini after the Italian dislocated a shoulder during his first season at Liverpool.

But Rodgers says Borini will only be ruled out for a matter of days.

The bigger question is whether Sunderland can agree personal terms with last season’s loanee after Liverpool accepted a £14million offer on Friday for the 23-year-old.

“It’s probably not as bad as first thought,” Rodgers said.

“He’s had problems in the past with his shoulders but he has only bruised it.

“He will miss a few days and won’t train now for the remainder of our stay in Boston but it will only be a matter of days before he’s back training and playing again.

“Regards his future, we will see. He’s still a Liverpool player.

“We’ve obviously had a substantial bid from another Premier League club but at this moment in time it’s something he’s thinking about with his representatives. In the mean time he’s training hard to get fit for Liverpool.”
