CRAIG Gardner is expected to complete a Bosman move to West Brom before the weekend.
SportMail revealed last week that Gardner was told before the end of the season that he would not be offered a new deal by Sunderland, with his current contract expiring next month.
The Brummie had been limited to a fringe role under Gus Poyet and was widely expected to join West Brom, who been tracking the midfielder almost since he first arrived at the Stadium of Light in a £6million move from Birmingham City.
Gardner is thought to have been at the Hawthorns today for contract talks and is expected to complete a deal with the Baggies by the end of the week.
West Brom will become the third West Midlands club on his CV after Aston Villa and Birmingham.
