Vito Mannone was handed a shock recall to the starting XI for Sunderland's clash at Manchester City.
Mannone - linked with a January exit from the Stadium of Light - had previously made just one appearance for Sunderland this season, in September's League Cup defeat to City.
But the Italian was recalled to the side at the Etihad, with first-choice Costel Pantilimon on the bench.
Mannone's inclusion was not the only surprise on the team-sheet, with Danny Graham making his first start since August alongside fellow frontman Steven Fletcher.
Fabio Borini, Adam Johnson and Jordi Gomez also came into the side, while returning Lee Cattermole was fit enough for a spot on the bench.
